If you love the outdoors, you will love all that the Golden Gate State Park offers with over 14,000 acres of land that includes every type of terrain available including: meadows, rocky mountains, and dense forest areas. It makes the perfect place for going camping, taking a nice hike, enjoying a delightful picnic, horseback riding. It even boasts several ponds perfect for trout fishing and rapid, adventuresome rivers for kayaking and rafting. For those that love beautiful scenery and photography, the Golden Gate State Park offers a wondrous view of more than 100 miles of the Continental Divide seen from the famous spot of Panorama Point, a place often used for weddings and other special occasions.

The indoor life. For those who are interested in the indoor life, there is plenty of excitement in the casino and gambling halls in nearby Black Hawk and Central City. Once an area of grand theatre and operatic productions, the Central City Opera House, built in 1878 is still an active theatre.
